Job description
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer with a strong background in water treatment and MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation) systems to join our growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on critical water infrastructure projects that make a real difference to communities and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead electrical design and engineering activities for water treatment and wastewater projects
Develop electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and instrumentation diagrams
Specify and select electrical equipment including motors, drives, switchgear, and control systems
Design and implement SCADA systems and HMI interfaces for water treatment processes
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, process, and civil engineers
Manage project timelines, budgets, and technical deliverables
Conduct site surveys, factory acceptance tests, and commissioning activities
Ensure compliance with water industry standards, electrical regulations, and health & safety requirements
Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies throughout project lifecycle
Mentor junior engineers and support business development activities
Essential Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum 3-5 years' experience in electrical engineering within the water/wastewater sector
Strong knowledge of MEICA systems and water treatment processes
Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar)
Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent)
Understanding of UK electrical standards (BS 7671, IET Wiring Regulations)
Knowledge of water industry standards (AMP framework, UKWIR guidelines)
Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership
Full UK driving licence
