Job description
Electrical Site Manager
About the role
We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Site Manager with a strong background in renewable energy to lead on-site electrical activities for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of a large-scale clean energy installation — ensuring safety, quality, and programme targets are met throughout the construction and commissioning phases.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate all electrical works on site, managing electricians and specialist subcontractors
Review and interpret BESS system designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure installations meet technical and regulatory standards
Plan, manage, and monitor site progress to align with project milestones and delivery schedule
Carry out regular inspections and audits to ensure high standards of safety and workmanship
Collaborate closely with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, and other trades to ensure seamless site coordination
Enforce and maintain strict Health & Safety standards — review and approve RAMS, ensure PPE compliance, and promote a strong safety culture
Oversee and support testing, inspection, and commissioning of BESS systems and associated electrical infrastructure
Manage snagging, defect resolution, and ensure comprehensive handover documentation is prepared
Maintain accurate daily and weekly reports, labour records, and material usage logs
Proactively identify and manage technical risks, delays, and quality issues, escalating where necessary
Required Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Electrical Site Manager or Supervisor on large-scale industrial, renewable, or infrastructure projects
Proven experience within Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Solar PV, or Renewable Energy projects
Valid ECS Gold Card
SSSTS or SMSTS certification
In-depth understanding of Health & Safety legislation, electrical regulations, and renewable system standards
Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills
Full UK Driving Licence
