Job description

Electrical Supervisor needed in Derby on a resi / commercial project, 10 month contract.

We are currently seeking an experiencedElectrical Supervisorto oversee electrical installations on aresidential / commercial project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, along with experience managing a team of electricians, ensuring work is completed to the highest standards, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily electrical activities on-site, ensuring all work is compliant with safety regulations and standards.

  • Oversee and direct a team of electricians, providing guidance and support throughout the project.

  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, drawings, and technical diagrams.

  • Ensure quality control and that all electrical work meets relevant codes and regulations.

  • Monitor project progress and ensure work is being completed according to the project schedule.

  • Ensure the safety of the site, conducting regular safety checks, and enforcing site health and safety procedures.

  • Report on progress, issues, and delays to project managers and senior staff.

  • Conduct inspections and tests of electrical systems and components, ensuring correct installation and functionality.

  • Provide training and mentoring to junior team members.

  • Manage stock levels and ensure tools and materials are ordered and available as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Gold ECS

  • SSSTS / SMSTS

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Supervisor, with a background in both residential and commercial projects.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and industry standards.

  • Electrical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).

  • Experience managing a team of electricians, with excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • In-depth understanding of health and safety regulations and a commitment to enforcing them on-site.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
