Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Plumbing Engineer to design, develop, and oversee the installation and maintenance of plumbing systems for commercial, residential, or industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of building codes, system design, and fluid dynamics, and will collaborate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and contractors to ensure efficient and compliant plumbing systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, stormwater, venting, and gas distribution.
Prepare detailed drawings, calculations, and technical specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
Ensure all plumbing systems comply with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations (e.g., IPC, UPC, NFPA).
Collaborate with project teams during the design and construction phases to provide technical support and resolve issues.
Conduct site visits to monitor installation, testing, and commissioning of plumbing systems.
Perform hydraulic calculations and select appropriate materials and equipment (pumps, piping, valves, fixtures, etc.).
Coordinate plumbing layouts with other MEP disciplines to avoid clashes and optimize system efficiency.
Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
Participate in cost estimation, feasibility studies, and project scheduling.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe.
3–7 years of relevant plumbing system design experience.
Proficient in plumbing codes and standards (e.g., IPC, ASPE, NFPA, ASHRAE).
Strong CAD and BIM skills (AutoCAD, Revit MEP preferred).
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Skills (Optional):
LEED accreditation or sustainability knowledge.
Experience with healthcare, high-rise, or laboratory facility plumbing systems.
Familiarity with software such as HASS, Pipe Flow Expert, or Bluebeam.
