Job description

​My client are a civil engineering business with over 20 years experience in the civil engineering market. They are looking to onboard a project manager to help deliver a project in the Manchester area for a £13.8 billion framework. 

Project manager responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones to ensure delivery aligns with the business objectives.

  • Prepare, monitor, and control project budgets, ensuring costs are tracked accurately and any variances are reported and managed promptly.

  • Coordinate communication between contractors, consultants, local authorities, and other stakeholders to maintain alignment and resolve issues efficiently.

  • Ensure all project activities comply SHE standards, CDM regulations, and environmental legislation.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, maintaining a live risk register and implementing control measures to minimize potential impacts on project delivery.

  • Oversee the implementation of quality management plans, ensuring works meet specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage NEC or other relevant contract forms, oversee procurement activities, and ensure contractors deliver against agreed terms and KPIs.

  • produce regular progress reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for internal stakeholders and governance boards.

  • Manage variations and change requests in line with contract requirements, ensuring transparency, proper documentation, and budget alignment.

Project manager requirements: 

  • Right to work in the UK.

  • NVQ level 6 or diploma/ degree in civil engineering or construction management.

  • Black CSCS.

  • SMSTS. 

  • IT literate.

  • Previous experience with project in the water, utilities or civil sector. 

  • Knowledge and understanding or NEC contracts. 

  • Previous experience with full project life cycle.
