Job description
RTL Group are looking for a hands-on QS who enjoys running projects and wants to work for a leading civil engineering contractor.
Our client is delivering a 12-month NEC contract in Immingham and need a Quantity Surveyor who’s comfortable owning the commercial side from start to finish. This is a proper site-facing role, not a desk-only position.
The Role
You’ll take responsibility for a live civils package, including:
Full commercial management of a heavy civils work package
Subcontract procurement, administration and payments
Cost reporting, forecasting and CVRs
Managing variations, compensation events and final accounts
Working closely with the site team to keep the job commercially on track
Reporting into senior commercial management
What We’re Looking For
Must have NEC contract experience
5 years experience minimum in the UK working as a QS on heavy civil engineering projects
Comfortable running your own package with minimal supervision
Strong subcontract and cost control experience
Practical, site-aware approach — you understand how jobs really run
Open to permanent or freelance engagement
What’s On Offer
£60,000 – £70,000 salary or competitive freelance rate
12-month secured workload with potential extension
Well-run project and a no-nonsense team
Genuine autonomy and responsibility
If you want a QS role where you can get properly involved and add value on site, this is the right ole for you!
We currently have a number of QS/SQS roles all over the country so if this role doesn't suit but you are interested in hearing about other positions then please call (phone number removed) for a confidential chat.
