We are working with a London main contractor who is expanding their commercial team. They have scope to appoint at either Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor level, depending on the experience of the right person.

Both roles are permanent, office based in London, and involve working on live projects across the capital. The client is particularly interested in candidates with a civils or groundworks background.

Quantity Surveyor | £50,000 - £65,000

Reporting into the senior commercial team, the Quantity Surveyor will take day to day ownership of cost on their allocated projects.

• Managing costs from procurement through to final account
• Preparing and agreeing valuations, variations and applications for payment
• Subcontract procurement, packages and payment certificates
• Producing cost reports and forecasts for internal review
• Working alongside site teams to keep commercial and delivery aligned
• Administering contracts under NEC and JCT

Senior Quantity Surveyor | £75,000 - £90,000

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will take full commercial ownership of their projects and report directly to senior management.

• Full commercial responsibility from tender to final account
• Leading subcontract procurement, negotiation and package management
• Owning monthly cost value reconciliation and senior level reporting
• Managing change, compensation events and claims
• Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff
• Contract administration under NEC and JCT, including notices and early warnings

What you will need

Main contractor or subcontractor experience at the relevant level

• Working knowledge of NEC and JCT, and confidence administering both
• A civil engineering background or experience on groundworks packages (desirable)
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, or equivalent site based experience
• Right to work in the UK
