Job description

Electrical Site Engineer – Overview

  • Experienced Electrical Site Engineer required for major residential and commercial projects

  • Engineering-led role supporting delivery across RIBA Stages 4–5

  • Focus on technical compliance, coordination, and high-quality site delivery

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and manage electrical installations on large-scale residential and commercial developments

  • Deliver site activities during RIBA Stage 4 (Technical Design) and Stage 5 (Construction)

  • Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications, British Standards, and regulations

  • Review and implement electrical design information and technical documentation

  • Coordinate with M&E consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, and design teams

  • Carry out electrical calculations and design checks using Amtech / Trimble or similar

  • Assist with testing, commissioning, and final handover of electrical systems

  • Identify and resolve technical and installation issues on site

  • Maintain health & safety compliance and site procedures

  • Monitor programme progress, quality, and installation standards

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Electrical engineering background (Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent)

  • Experience as an Electrical Site Engineer or similar role on large projects

  • Working knowledge of RIBA Stages 4–5

  • Competent with Amtech / Trimble or equivalent design software

  • Strong technical knowledge of LV distribution, lighting, fire alarms, containment, earthing, and commissioning

  • Sound understanding of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)

  • Ability to read and coordinate technical drawings and specifications

Desirable

  • SSSTS or SMSTS qualification

  • Experience with main contractors or large M&E contractors

  • BIM / coordinated MEP model experience

  • Background in high-rise residential, mixed-use, or commercial developments
