Our client, a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced Groundworks / Civils Site Manager to over see Section 278 works, road improvements, and associated groundworks on a major project in Newcastle.

The Role

As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of on-site operations. You will coordinate trades, manage subcontractors, and ensure all works comply with design specifications, programme requirements, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day site operations for S278 works, Road improvements, drainage, kerbing, utilities, and general groundworks

• Lead site teams and coordinate subcontractors

• Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, RAMS, and company procedures

• Monitor progress against programme and report to the Project Manager

• Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and the client’s team

• Maintain high standards of quality control and site documentation

• Identify and resolve technical or construction issues as they arise

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering or groundworks

• Strong background in Section 278 / Road works

• SMSTS, CSCS (Black/White), and First Aid

• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Ability to read drawings and manage multiple site activities

• Full UK driving licence
