Project Manager – Substation Project

Location: Central Belt, Scotland
Type: Permanent / Contract (DOE)

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major substation project within the Central Belt of Scotland. This role offers the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects within the power and energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the planning, execution, and successful delivery of the substation project

  • Managing programme, budget, quality, and safety performance

  • Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams

  • Liaising with clients, DNOs/IDNOs, designers, and stakeholders

  • Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, HSE standards, and industry best practice

  • Managing risk, change control, and reporting project progress

  • Leading site teams and promoting a strong safety culture

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager on substation, power, or HV infrastructure projects

  • Strong understanding of electrical and civil works within substations

  • Relevant qualification in engineering, construction management, or similar

  • SMSTS and CSCS (or equivalent)

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills

  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience working with SPEN, SSE, or National Grid projects

  • Knowledge of NEC contracts

  • Previous experience delivering projects in live substation environments
