Project Manager – Groundworks & Civil Engineering
Location: Galgate, Lancashire
Start: Immediate
Duration: 12-Month Project with Further Work Across the North West

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a groundworks and civil engineering scheme based in Galgate, Lancashire. This is a secured 12-month project with a strong pipeline of additional works across the North West, offering continuity beyond the initial contract.

Role Overview
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the planning, coordination, and execution of groundworks and civil engineering packages from inception through to completion. You will ensure safe, efficient, and commercially sound project delivery while maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage site teams, engineers, subcontractors, and supply chain partners

  • Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and within budget

  • Develop and monitor project programmes, identifying and mitigating risks

  • Manage project costs, valuations, variations, and reporting requirements

  • Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and company procedures

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and senior management to provide progress updates

  • Maintain quality standards and ensure successful project handover

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience managing groundworks and civil engineering projects

  • SMSTS, CSCS (Black/Professional), and First Aid certification

  • Proven leadership ability with strong organisational and communication skills

  • Commercial awareness and ability to manage project financial performance
