​RTL Group are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor who are looking to bring in an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a multi-year tunnelling scheme.

This Role caan be freelance, temp to permanent or straight permanent 

The Role

You’ll be taking ownership of the commercial function on a major tunnelling project, working closely with the site and project management teams. The position will suit someone who is confident working under NEC contracts and comfortable handling the day-to-day commercial duties on complex civil engineering works.

Key Responsibilities

• Overseeing the commercial management of a multi-year tunnelling project

• Full NEC contract administration, including early warnings, compensation events and issuing notices

• Measuring and quantifying tunnelling works, shafts and associated civils packages

• Preparing take-offs, BoQs, cost plans and monthly cost/value reports

• Managing subcontract procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts

• Monitoring budgets, forecasts and cost control throughout the project lifecycle

• Supporting regular commercial reviews and reporting to senior management

• Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and delivery teams

About You

• Background in civil engineering with experience on tunnelling, underground or heavy civils projects

• Previous experience working for a contractor in a QS/Senior QS role

• Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts

• Confident in measurement, quantification and general commercial controls

• Good communication skills and a practical, proactive approach
