​We are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor on a major Junction Improvement scheme in York. This is an excellent long-term freelance opportunity on a key highways project, offering strong rates and the potential for ongoing work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setting out for roads, drainage, kerbs, ducting, and associated junction works.

• Managing QA documentation, as-built surveys, and record keeping.

• Working closely with the Site Manager and Project Manager to deliver works safely and efficiently.

• Supervising subcontractors and ensuring compliance with design specifications and standards.

• Liaising with the client and local authorities as required.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer on highways or junction improvement schemes.

• Strong setting-out skills using GPS and Total Station.

• Knowledge of 278 works and local authority standards.

• CSCS card essential; SMSTS / SSSTS desirable.

• Full UK driving licence.
