Site Supervisor – Substation & Cable Route Works

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to support the delivery of a major substation project, with a strong focus on cable route construction works. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.

This role is well suited to a hands-on supervisor with a background in utilities, power, or civil infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise cable route works including trenching, ducting, draw pits, reinstatement, and associated civils

• Coordinate subcontractors, plant, and labour on site

• Ensure compliance with RAMS,CDM Regulations, and site-specific H&S requirements

• Carry out site briefings, toolbox talks, and daily activity planning

• Liaise with the Site Manager, Project Manager, and client representatives

• Monitor quality, productivity, and progress against the programme

• Ensure environmental controls are in place in line with SEPA requirements

• Maintain accurate site records, permits, and reports

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Supervisor on substation, power, or cable route projects

• Strong understanding of civil works related to HV/LV cable installation

• SMSTS or SSSTS (essential)

• CSCS card (Supervisor level or higher)

• First Aid at Work

• Good knowledge of H&S legislation and best practice

• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications

• Full UK driving licence

Desirable

• Experience working on live substations or power projects

• Temporary Works Supervisor

• Confined Space or NRSWA certification

• Scottish utilities or DNO experience
