Site Supervisor – Substation & Cable Route Works
Location: Scotland
Contract Type: Long-term contract / Permanent (DOE)
Start: January 2026
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to support the delivery of a major substation project, with a strong focus on cable route construction works. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
This role is well suited to a hands-on supervisor with a background in utilities, power, or civil infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise cable route works including trenching, ducting, draw pits, reinstatement, and associated civils
Coordinate subcontractors, plant, and labour on site
Ensure compliance with RAMS,CDM Regulations, and site-specific H&S requirements
Carry out site briefings, toolbox talks, and daily activity planning
Liaise with the Site Manager, Project Manager, and client representatives
Monitor quality, productivity, and progress against the programme
Ensure environmental controls are in place in line with SEPA requirements
Maintain accurate site records, permits, and reports
Requirements
Proven experience as a Site Supervisor on substation, power, or cable route projects
Strong understanding of civil works related to HV/LV cable installation
SMSTS or SSSTS (essential)
CSCS card (Supervisor level or higher)
First Aid at Work
Good knowledge of H&S legislation and best practice
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
Full UK driving licence
Desirable
Experience working on live substations or power projects
Temporary Works Supervisor
Confined Space or NRSWA certification
Scottish utilities or DNO experience
