Job description

Our client is a Tier One M&E Contractor currently seeking a Mechanical Manager to join their team on a prestigious high-end residential project in London. With a proven track record of delivering complex and technically demanding projects across the commercial, residential, retail, hospitality, and banking sectors, our client is recognised for their commitment to quality, innovation, and excellence in project delivery.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the mechanical package – overseeing all aspects from design coordination and procurement through to installation, testing, commissioning, and client handover. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Manager with strong fit-out experience who is capable of running the mechanical works independently to deliver a high-quality, on-time, and on-budget project.

Mechanical Manager Responsibilities

  • Report to and work closely with the Project Director and Operations Lead

  • Take full ownership of the mechanical scope, running the job from start to finish

  • Manage and coordinate all mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and public health

  • Lead the fit-out phase, ensuring seamless integration of mechanical services within high-end finishes

  • Oversee on-site delivery teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth execution

  • Review drawings and specifications, providing technical input and value engineering

  • Manage project programme, budgets, and resource allocation to meet key milestones

  • Produce regular progress, cost, and quality reports for management and clients

  • Maintain strong health, safety, and environmental standards on site

  • Support the testing, commissioning, and handover processes

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders

  • Take a proactive approach to resolving technical and coordination issues

Mechanical Manager Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Manager within the M&E contracting or building services sector

  • Strong background in high-end residential fit-out projects

  • Ability to run the full mechanical package independently from pre-construction through to handover

  • Sound technical knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and public health

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software

  • Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)

  • Experience with BIM, Revit, AutoCAD, and LEAN construction principles (advantageous)

  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project cost management

  • Track record of delivering high-quality projects to tight deadlines and demanding client standards
