​We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee and manage mechanical works on a National Grid substation project. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong leadership skills and a proven track record working on high-voltage substations within the National Grid framework.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise all mechanical installations and activities on-site, ensuring compliance with National Grid standards and project specifications.

• Coordinate and manage subcontractors and direct labour on a daily basis.

• Ensure that health, safety, and environmental regulations are strictly adhered to.

• Monitor project progress, provide reports, and support planning and scheduling activities.

• Liaise with the Project Manager, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of works.

• Conduct inspections and quality checks of mechanical works and documentation.

• Support commissioning and handover processes.

Requirements:

• Proven experience working on National Grid projects– essential.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems within high-voltage substations.

• SSSTS or SMSTS certification preferred.

• Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications (NVQ, HNC, or equivalent).

• Familiarity with National Grid’s TP137/TP144 procedures (advantageous).

• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.

• Valid CSCS card and full UK driving licence.
