MEICA Project Engineer

📍North West, UK| 🕒Permanent| 💧Water / Wastewater / Bioresources

The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced MEICA Project Engineer to support the delivery of water, wastewater, and bioresources projects within a long-term regional framework. You’ll work across the full project lifecycle — from design and procurement through to construction and commissioning — ensuring safety, quality, and performance targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Engineering Delivery

  • Support development and delivery of MEICA projects across water, wastewater, and bioresources.

  • Provide technical input during concept, design, and definition stages.

  • Produce engineering specifications and scopes of work.

  • Manage and review internal and subcontractor design packages.

  • Carry out site surveys and support construction and commissioning.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations (Designer, Principal Designer, Principal Contractor).

  • Prepare and review RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, and SHE documentation.

  • Promote health, safety, and environmental best practices on all sites.

Procurement & Commercial

  • Evaluate technical and commercial aspects of supplier bids.

  • Raise requisitions and manage subcontractor and supplier relationships.

  • Ensure procurement and delivery remain within project budgets.

Project Management

  • Monitor and report on project performance and risk.

  • Participate in progress meetings, design reviews, HAZOPs, and audits.

  • Contribute to collaborative planning and sequencing on site.

What We’re Looking For

  • HNC/HND or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • CSCS Card and Water Hygiene Card (required).

  • Experience delivering MEICA projects in the water or utilities sector.

  • Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes.

  • Familiarity with working on operational water treatment sites.

  • Effective communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.

  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contract frameworks.
