Job description
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Civil Planner to join our team on a permanent basis. This strategic role supports Project Directors and the Director in Charge across the planning lifecycle — from prequalification and tendering through construction, commissioning, and handover.
The successful candidate will play a leading role in the management and coordination of programmes across our regional projects, ensuring excellence in planning, consistency in approach, and collaboration across teams and the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Project Directors and Director in Charge with programme risk assessments at the prequalification stage to guide bid/no-bid decisions.
Review and challenge baseline contract programmes, including design, procurement, build, commissioning, and handover phases.
Oversee preparation of construction (target) programmes, identifying opportunities for improvements over contractual timelines.
Lead and mentor the regional planning team, maintaining consistency across all planning activities.
Assist the Director in Charge with planning-related business improvement measures.
Deliver weekly and monthly programme updates to Regional Directors, including analysis of phasing and performance.
Validate tender event programmes and ensure alignment with subcontractor design release and lead-in schedules.
Manage the production of 4D visual models or 2D phasing plans to support planning communication and construction sequencing.
Oversee construction methodology, sequencing, and logistics to support successful delivery.
Review project prelim books, including staffing, temporary works, and logistics.
Liaise with the supply chain to confirm programme validity around design, lead-in times, build durations, and resourcing.
Identify and report risks, opportunities, float, and time risk allowances, along with proposed mitigations.
Skills & Experience Required
3-5 Years in a civils planner role
Relevant degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
Proven background in civil or construction project planning, ideally on large-scale or complex infrastructure projects.
Strong grasp of construction techniques, sequencing, and logistics planning.
Advanced training in project management software, including progress analysis, S-curve reporting, and cost/resource control.
Proficient in Primavera P6 and associated planning tools.
Experience in team management and leadership within a planning environment.
Advanced BIM knowledge and solid understanding of the Common Data Environment (CDE).
Ability to create and manage 4D models and other visual planning outputs.
