Quality Engineer (QA/QC) – Nuclear Defence Project
12-Month Minimum Contract | Hybrid Working | Live SC Clearance Required
Hours: Minimum 8 hours per day
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer (QA/QC) to support a high-profile Nuclear Defence programme. This role requires a strong background in regulated environments, with a clear understanding of nuclear quality standards, compliance, and documentation control.
This is a minimum 12-month contract opportunity operating under a hybrid working arrangement. Active SC Clearance is essential.
Role Overview
You will provide comprehensive QA/QC support across the full project lifecycle — from initial kick-off through to final completion and release. The role will ensure all quality activities are delivered in strict accordance with nuclear industry regulations, defence standards, and QC1 requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Review, assess and formally accept procedures and documentation in line with QC1 and nuclear regulatory requirements
Conduct QC inspections in accordance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
Perform surveillance activities across manufacturing, fabrication, installation, and testing phases
Ongoing review and final acceptance of Lifetime Records (LTRs) ensuring full traceability and compliance
Conduct and sign off Final Release Inspections (FRI)
Witness functional, pressure, NDT and other relevant testing activities
Support configuration control and document management processes
Attend and contribute to project, quality, and technical review meetings
Ensure adherence to nuclear safety culture, quality governance, and defence compliance standards
Essential Experience & Skills
Demonstrable experience within nuclear, defence, or highly regulated engineering environments
Strong knowledge of nuclear quality standards, traceability, and documentation requirements
Experience working under structured Quality Management Systems (e.g. ISO 9001, ASME, defence standards)
Proven ability to review technical documentation and verify compliance
Strong understanding of ITPs, LTR compilation, and final certification processes
Excellent stakeholder communication and reporting skills
Live SC Clearance (mandatory)
